About Us

Welcome to Save The Octopus!

Our organization was founded by Isla Abrams, a student at the University of Pittsburgh – though at the time of its founding, she was just a high school sophomore.

Isla’s passion for ocean life began after watching a thought provoking documentary that revealed the complex intelligence and emotional depth of octopuses. Deeply moved, she felt compelled to take action and raise awareness about their welfare and the threats they face.

Save the Octopus is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating the public and advocating for the protection of octopuses in both natural and industrial environments. Through outreach, education, and advocacy, we strive to promote a deeper understanding of these remarkable creatures and to inspire more compassionate, sustainable practices worldwide.

We believe that through knowledge, empathy, and collective action, we can create a brighter future for these extraordinary beings.

In addition to education and awareness campaigns, Save the Octopus also works closely with restaurants to promote alternative menu options. By collaborating with chefs and offering delicious alternatives, we strive to reduce the demand for octopus in the culinary world and provide viable, ethical choices for consumers. Our goal is to facilitate a shift towards a more compassionate and sustainable approach to dining.

Save the Octopus firmly believes that everyone can make a difference. Whether you’re an individual looking to learn more about these incredible creatures or a restaurant owner interested in exploring alternative menu options, we welcome your support. Together, we can protect and preserve the octopus for generations to come. Join us in our mission to save the octopus and make a positive impact on the world we share!
